The evening will open with a thought-provoking high-level discussion on how Europe can stay globally competitive while safeguarding its fundamental rightsâpaving a distinctive path between the models of the United States and China. The event brings together voices shaping the future of AI â from digital rights advocacy to governance innovation and tech entrepreneurship.
Xavier Lombard is a serial entrepreneur and passionate innovator. After 10 years as a research engineer at EDF and collaborations with Hydro-QuĂ©bec, Westinghouse, AEP, and Honeywell, he founded a renewable energy startup acquired by EDF-EN in 2013. He later launched Seraphin, Belgiumâs first digital insurance broker, and in 2021 co-founded Leexi, ranked in 2024 as the top AI notetaker by Lecko and JDN.
Alexis Prokopiev is the Director of Governance and Democratic Innovation at Make.org and Vice-President of Civic Tech Europe (ACTE). He works to advance participatory democracy across Europe. His experience spans academia, public institutions, and civil society, including roles at Sciences Po Paris, the French National Assembly, and several NGOs.
Blue Tiyavorabun works at EDRi on AI, climate justice, and the materiality of technology. With a Masterâs in AI and experience at the Oxford Internet Institute and the European Parliament, they bridge tech expertise, policy, and activism to promote human rightsâcentered digital governance.

Synopsis:
The Thinking Game follows DeepMind and co-founder Demis Hassabis over five years as they pursue artificial general intelligence. From mastering games like Go to breakthroughs like AlphaFold, the film reveals how the quest to âsolve intelligenceâ raises urgent questions about who controls AI, how democratic oversight can keep up, and whether a technology built to think for us might ultimately decide for us.
